Ariana Grande Is Breakthrough Artist Of The Year

Pop singer Ariana Grande will be honored by the Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the Music Biz 2014 Awards.

The singer will be honored by bosses at the Music business Association on May 8, at the ceremony which will take place in Los Angeles.

Ariana, who became famous as a star on Nickelodeon’s popular kids’ show Victorious, will be awarded for her stunning achievement as a singer over the past year, 2013, including her number one song on the U.S. charts with her debut album, Yours Truly.

The 20-year old expressed her gratitude for the award in a statement, saying, “Music has always been my first love, so receiving this Award is a true honour for me.”

She continued: “I’ve been pursuing a career as a singer since I was eight, and it’s a great feeling to know that the industry has embraced me with open arms.”

Other recipients of the award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year include Emeli Sande, Nicki Minaj, John Legend and Carrie Underwood.

Twisted Sister front man Dee Snider will also be awarded at the event for his philanthropic efforts with the Harry Chapin Memorial Humanitarian Award.

Her debut album received critical acclaim and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.

This made Grande the first female artist to have their first record debut in the peak position since Animal by Kesha in January 2010, and the fifteenth female artist in general.
