Bowie has been a huge supporter of ‘behaving out of the ordinary just because you feel like it’ throughout his impressive career spanning over 40 years. And it would appear that he’s not going to change his ways anytime soon – he’s joining a team of prominent musicians such as Cyndi Lauper, They Might Be Giants, Flaming Lips, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry to contribute music for everybody’s favorite Nickelodeon character – Spongebob Squarepants.

According to sources, there’s a musical in the making about Spongebob and it will debut in Chicago on the 7th of June 2016 and will go on until the 16th of July. After that, it will make its way to Broadway for 2016-2017.

And if you think that Bowie and Spongebob have nothing in common, just remember that Bowie made a guest appearance in the musical comedy film SpongeBob’s Atlantis SquarePantis, and that he voiced Lord Royal Highness. Bowie doesn’t have a problem with doing different things from time to time, and this is apparent by his acting on the side, which is not too shabby either.
