Mother Monster Lady Gaga will receive the inaugural Contemporary Icon Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 19. According to a statement from the hall, the award is to honor a performing songwriter ‘who has attained an iconic status in pop culture’.

Apart from writing most of her hits, including Poker Face, Applause and Just Dance, Lady Gaga has also attained a number of impressive achievements throughout her career. For instance, she was the first woman to receive the RIAA’s Digital Diamond Award, and was named as one of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women by Forbes for four consecutive years. In addition to being a successful artist, Gaga is also known as a philanthropist, beginning the Born This Way Foundation with mother Cynthia Germanotta in 2012.

Despite the fact that she is only 29 years old, the singer has already become one of the best-selling musicians of all time, and boasts six Grammy Awards, 13 MTV Video Music Awards and 13 Guiness World Records. On top of all of that, fans across the world consider her an icon of pop music, and her cult status is now being reaffirmed by the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
