More than two decades after Kurt Cobain’s death, Brett Morgen, the director of the upcoming Cobain documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, released an acoustic version of Cobain singing the hit Beatles song ‘And I Love Her.’

Morgen claims that no one has ever heard Cobain performing one of the Beatles’ best-loved songs. Here’s what he said:

“Nobody in Kurt’s life – not his management, wife, bandmates – had ever heard his Beatles thing. I found it on a random tape. It’s a Paul song. How’s that for shattering the myth?”

Nirvana fans know that Cobain enjoyed listening to the Beatles, but they are also aware that Kurt was not a fan of Paul McCartney. Strange as it may sound, Cobain decided to cover a song which was primarily written by McCartney, and which features him on lead vocals.
