This year’s Super Bowl will be the 50th Super Bowl, so it’s a big anniversary and obviously a big deal. So whoever gets picked to play the halftime show is going to have their work cut out for them. According to insider reports, Maroon 5 might be getting the call.

Apparently, the Adam Levine-fronted pop group is the front-runner for the job. Some other people that have been mentioned as being in the running include Coldplay and Bruno Mars. Mars probably won’t get the nod though, because he performed two years ago.

Katy Parry performed last year. As we all know, the Super Bowl halftime show is never about just one band or performer, there are always a few big-name surprise guests. And considering this is the 50th anniversary of the big game, we are expecting the guest list to be huge and full of massive stars.

If Maroon 5 do land the gig, there’s going to be a lot of pressure on them to live up to everyone’s expectations.
