Wayne Wells, also known as Wayne Static, was the leader of the 90s metal band Static-X.

Wells died over the weekend according to his family. He was only 48 years old. Some comments from close friends from within the music industry would led people to believe that the death was related to a drug overdose, but there have been no such confirmations as of yet.

Wells was originally from Michigan, but loved out to Los Angeles to former the band, which was popular during the 1990s nu metal era. He had formed the band back in 1994 and was signed to their first record deal in 1998.

Static-X was recently activated again, and the band had upcoming tour dates with fellow 90s nu metal relics Drowning Pool and Powerman 5000.

Family and friends, along with fellow musicians, mourned the death of Wayne, calling him a truly good person who cared a lot about his music and his family and friends.
